Engineering leader, consultant, and a builder who never put the keyboard down.
Twenty-five-plus years of turning messy mandates into working systems.
These days that means agentic AI: from the orchestration layer to the review pipeline that keeps main green.
I'm a systems thinker with a builder's temperament. When something keeps breaking, I go looking
for the structure that keeps recreating it: the ownership gap, the missing feedback loop,
the assumption nobody ever tested.
I've run distributed engineering organizations, shaped consulting engagements from discovery
through statement of work, led machine-learning product work at Amazon, and I still ship code
most days. The side projects aren't hobbies. They're how I keep my hands current and test
ideas against problems I actually have.
My current thesis on AI: capable systems need a clear what, boundaries, tools, and
verification, more than a human dictating every how. That isn't giving up control.
It's moving control into the loop, the acceptance criteria, the observer, and the recovery path.
← this is the part where most people write "passionate about technology." I'd rather show you the repos.Strongest when the mandate is fuzzy and someone needs to turn it into architecture, scope, a plan, and a shipped thing.Foodie. Will happily drive an hour for a menu with a point of view, and a table where you can actually hear the band.
built, and still running
Things I built
Overdeck open source
Orchestration for AI coding agents. Isolated git worktrees per issue, persistent project context,
live diffs, mid-task steering, model hot-swapping, specialist review, automated tests, browser UAT,
quality gates, and merge trains that keep main green. Overdeck builds Overdeck.
An AI productivity platform for busy people and families. Tasks, calendar, automatic scheduling,
habits, household lists, focus timers, long-term memory, and Kaia, an assistant that actually
remembers you. Web, iOS, and Android. Built and operated end to end.
The Infinite Word War. A persistent multiplayer word-strategy game, and a live test bed for
agent-driven product development. Every feature goes through the same plan, build, review,
and merge loop I use for real work. Come lose a round.
Led a distributed engineering organization of 26 across POS integration, core platform, and
self-service products. Reorganized siloed component teams into cross-disciplinary teams with real
outcome ownership. Set modernization roadmaps on Java, Spring, Kubernetes, and Kafka. Guided
architecture across a POS estate of more than 40 vendors. Started AI Office Hours for roughly
170 engineers and taught practical context management and AI-assisted code analysis.

Nortal · Delivery Manager
Client discovery, technical assessment, solution shaping, and statements of work. Logistics
data-platform modernization, telecom e-commerce, retail customer-data platforms, and recovering
engagements that had gone sideways as an embedded technical product owner.
2017 → 2019
Amazon · Senior Technical Product Manager
Machine-learning programs in Catalog focused on classification quality and catching suppliers
gaming the system. Built the top-offender detection proof of concept myself in Spring Boot and
AWS, then coordinated science, engineering, operations, and policy to make it real.
2015 → 2017
Expedia via consulting
Booking-platform modernization away from C++ dependencies toward Java. An internal CI/CD platform
spanning thousands of services. AWS migration, Node and Lambda services, and a browser extension
for experiment and operational visibility.
2012 → 2014
Cequint · Platform Development Manager
Fourteen engineers building cross-carrier, cross-device mobile services delivering content to
millions of devices. Still hands-on in Spring and Android while running carrier programs.
2005 → 2011
The consulting years Microsoft, Clearwire, MetroPCS, Expedia
A $14M MetroPCS.com modernization across 12 sprint teams onto AWS. Engineering and delivery for
Clear.com and wholesale carrier APIs. Executive scorecards and service-oriented proofs of concept
for Microsoft. Mobile-media platforms for the major carriers.
before that
Architecture and consulting the early years
City online-payment systems, advertising workflows, legal-services software, public learning
centers for kids, and industrial monitoring and visualization. Lots of hats, most of them at once.

Off the clock
Guitars, and a music past
I own more guitars than a person needs, and there's a music-production chapter I'll tell you
about in person. Live music with good food and an actual seat is the ideal evening.
The official eltmon chili
Beef chili built for depth, not just heat. Better on day two.

↑ the cocoa is the secret. An old mole-sauce trick: chocolate for depth, not sweetness.
Tinkering
Dual-booting Windows and Ubuntu, an electronics bench, a long history with computers and games
going back further than I'll admit. I learn by building the thing, breaking it, and building
it again with fewer moving parts.

Say hi
If you're building something with agents, modernizing something old, or trying to turn a vague
mandate into a plan people can actually execute, I'd like to hear about it.
